Professor Hall noted the increasing support for trials of deep-brain stimulation (DBS) as a treatment for drug addiction, and provided a comprehensive breakdown of the ethical implications of such a trial. He advocated for a measured approach, managing the risks to addicts and the relative cost and efficacy of such treatments.
